New Al-Hidaya Center

New Masjid, Al-Hidaya

The Muslim Community of Troy (MCT) was founded over two decades ago and has outgrown the present Masjid. Due to lack of space, major activities such as Jumah, Eid prayers, Seminars, Iftar, and other community activities are conducted at RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, http://www.rpi.edu/) and other facilities ; many other activities are curtailed.
 
The need for the Masjid, that serves the functions of this community has never been greater. MCT purchased a 12.3 acre property in a prime location in Latham, in the Capital District of New York. A multi-phase master plan has been designed to meet the Community needs. The new -Masjid Al-Hidaya is expected to draw 300-500 people to Friday prayer. Its prayer hall will be able to accommodate as many as 800 people.

The Master plan is divided into following three phases; phase I is currently underway.  

The Master Plan

Phase I   
 
Complete site preparation for all three phases, and build Musalla, Mezzanine, Grand Lobby, Library, Conference rooms, Offices, and Parking lots.
  • 6400 square foot prayer hall
  • 2200 square foot mezzanine
  • Grand lobby
  • 250 parking spaces
  • Children's play ground and open grass field for outdoor activities
  Total money spent as of today is approximately $2.5 million. Estimated additional cost to complete the phase I is approximately $3.5 million.  

Phase II  

School, and Multi-purpose Hall/Gymnasium  

Phase III  

Daycare Facility, & Shopping Center    

Completed as of 2010

Site preparation for all phases, including drainage, sewer, electricity, water  and gas connections, graveled parking lots, and all necessary cables at a cost of over one million dollars. Following activities in phase I have been completed:
  • Architecture site and planning
  • Site work preparation including foundation for phase 1, steel work, building construction, Exterior Framing, utilities connection, plumbing etc.
